It is important that you feel comfortable with the therapist you've chosen to help you navigate through the relationships and life situations that are currently causing you some difficulty.
In order to do that, let me tell you a bit about myself. My name is Winnie Visser. My husband and I have been married for 30 years. We have one married daughter, a married son, 2 adult sons and a precious grandson. In 1981 I graduated with honours from the Registered Practical Nursing Program at Loyalist College, in Belleville, Ontario. After working four years with the elderly and 15 years on the Psychiatric ward at Quinte Health Care, Belleville, I learned that people were much more than their diagnoses. I completed my Master of Divinity degree majoring in Family Systems Counselling from Tyndale Seminary in Toronto in 2000. In 2005, I completed more courses with the University of Guelph, Open Learning Division, which allowed me to become a Registered Clinical Member of the Ontario Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (http://www.oamft.on.ca/) as well as a being on the Canadian Registry of Marriage and Family Therapists. Currently, I have a private practice with offices in both Cobourg and Belleville. I see many clients, with a variety of emotional, relational or spiritual difficulties that are either self referred, referred through doctor's offices, public agencies, churches or EAP programs. I offer Grief Counselling, including on-site workplace grief counselling. As a client, it is your right to know that foundational to my counselling is a strong Christian faith base. However, I counsel many people who do not share that same faith and many who do. I am also hired as a resource person, by a number of churches between Ajax and Kingston to better equip their congregations to minister to those dealing with mental illnesses and their families.(http://www.faithandhopeministries.net/) It would be an honour to help you understand yourself in the difficulties you find yourself in. I believe that you have been created for a purpose far greater than you understand at present. I believe in new beginnings. |
