I am a process orientated therapist, who utilizes aspects of narrative, solution-focussed, experiential and emotional focussed approaches to therapy. I believe that family of origin issues play an important part in how we experience our lives at present and I also utilize attachment theories to help you understand yourself and your present situation.
Foundational to the counselling that I do is a strong Christian faith. I believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, our Counsellor. I believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. I believe that Christ loved us so much that He died on the cross for our sins, that He was buried and rose again so that we might live.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
Why is this important for you to know this? It is important that you know so that you can make an informed decision about the therapist that you choose to see.
I see many individuals, couples, children, teens and elderly folks who wish to speak openly about their faith issues and how it affects their circumstances because there are some therapists who don't feel comfortable doing this, but I see just as many people who do not think it is important nor do they want to talk about it. I respect both, but I believe its important for you to make an informed decision. |
