A Little Background….
It is important that you feel comfortable with the therapist you've chosen to help you navigate through the relationships and life situations that are currently causing you some difficulty.
In order to do that, let me tell you a bit about myself.
My name is Winnie Visser. I have been married for 36 years. We raised four children and have 3 precious grandchildren.
In 1981 I graduated with honours from the Registered Practical Nursing Program at Loyalist College, in Belleville, Ontario. After working five years with the elderly and 16 years on the Psychiatric ward at Quinte Health Care, Belleville, I learned that people were much more than their diagnoses.
I completed my Master of Divinity degree majoring in Family Systems Counselling from Tyndale Seminary in Toronto in 2000. In 2005, I completed more courses with the University of Guelph, Open Learning Division, which allowed me to become a Registered Clinical Member of the Ontario Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (http://www.oamft.on.ca/) as well as a being on the Canadian Registry of Marriage and Family Therapists. And in March 2017, I was granted the designation of Registered Psychotherapist in the College of Registered Psychotherapists in the province of Ontario.
Currently, I have a private practice with an office in Belleville on Thursdays and Fridays. I see many clients, with a variety of emotional, relational or spiritual difficulties that are either self -referred, referred through doctor's offices, public agencies, churches or EAP programs
I am also the part-time Congregational Care Coordinator at Brighton Fellowship Christian Reformed Church. Recently I retired from Faith and Hope Ministries as a resource mental health consultant helping congregations to minister more effectively to those experiencing mental illnesses and their families. It would be an honour to help you understand yourself in the difficulties you find yourself in. I believe that you have been created for a purpose far greater than you understand at present.
I believe in new beginnings.
